Bio briefly

I am the author of The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan, the world's first and only travel guide tailored to fans of Japanese science-fiction and fantasy movies.

Based in Southern California, I was a contributing writer to G-FAN magazine, which was named one of top 50 favorite magazines by the Chicago Tribune in 2008, and helped publicize the annual G-FEST conventions in Chicago. In 2000, I organized Godzilla Week with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and did the same a year later in organizing Superman Week. I also put together a luncheon which followed the Superman Week ceremony that was attended by Paul Levitz of DC Comics, Noel Neill, Jack Larson, Robert Rockwell (Jor-El in "Superman On Earth"), Jeff Corey ("Luke Benson" in "Superman and The Mole Men"), Mrs. Jerry (Joann) Siegel and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Shayne.

Toho Co., Ltd. asked me to pen Rick Dees's commentary for the 2004 Hollywood Christmas Parade for when the Godzilla Final Wars float passed by the broadcast and reviewing stands. Toho also asked me to write Johnny Grant's History of Godzilla speech for the Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony when Godzilla got his star. At the same time, I also had the L.A. County Board of Supervisors declare "Godzilla Month" to commemorate Godzilla's 50th Anniversary.

I also organized the 2006 Godzilla, King of the Monsters! 50th Anniversary plaque dedication at the Frank del Olmo Elementary School which was attended by Terry Morse, Jr. The plaque can be seen at the school's entrance at 100 S. New Hampshire Ave., Los Angeles.

In 2014, I organized the Adventures of Superman plaque dedication in Tarzana, California.

Besides Godzilla and Japanese science-fiction in general, I am a fan of Universal horror and monsters, Dark Shadows and Adventures of Superman.

Currently, The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan is available at http://armandsrancho.blogspot.com/p/about-monster-movie-fans-guide-to-japan.html

Thanks, Armand. Like so many on the board, I love the Universal Horrors. Even thought it's often panned by critics, my favorite is Werewolf of London.

Thanks for the heads-up on the magazine rack! I guess I tend to skip pass the locked threads.
